Alley pool has also been recognized by a pool enthusiast magazine Pool and Billiards. The inventor used to have room for a pool table in a recreation room. But now lives in a common home with average size rooms and bedrooms. He thought it would be nice to have a pool table again but no room was big enough.

He discovered all there was for saving space was bumper pool. Just didn’t seem right. Costello is lucky enough to be blessed with an inventor brain. The brain went to work. It took quite a while. When an idea emerged Costello went in the garage and made a prototype. Amazingly the prototype worked almost from the beginning. Costello ran the table design idea by his patent attorney friend Tom. They went forward to get a utility patent. Inventor Costello had no plans to be building pool tables as he was retired from having his own business in computer hardware, not furniture.

Hundreds of pool table dealers have seen and played alley pool prototype at the BCA tradeshow. The response was excellent. The decision has been made to let people make their own table because it’s very easy to build. This seems to be the best way to introduce this new cue game to the public now. It’s possible that fabricators could build these tables and sell them.
